Tsang Wing Fai
Born and raised in Hong Kong.
A freelance choreographer and performer wandering between street dance, contemporary dance, and theater performances, with a bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received a full scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund in 2021 and graduated with Distinction in the Master of Fine Arts in Dance, specializing in Choreography at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2023. In 2024, she was nominated for the "Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer" at the 25th Hong Kong Dance Awards.
She staged her first personal work, “Infiltrated,” in the “New Force in Motion” Series in 2019 and participated in a multidisciplinary creation in the “Choreographer and Composer Lab” from West Kowloon in 2022. In 2023, she choreographed a site-responsive work, “Covalence,” in the Eastern District Cultural Festival for CCDC. In 2024, she performed new solos "my INtrospectiF Journal" and "432029- Repair Work in Progress" and was actively involved in improvisation performances and performed for the I-Dance(HK) Festival. In 2025, “528” is premiered in the “New Force In Motion 2425", and "432029.1" is presented at the Hong Kong Fringe Festival. She has also performed for various choreographers in recent years, including Leila MCMILLAN, Ola MACIEJEWSKA, Kingsan LO, Justyne LI, Zelia TAN, Victor FUNG, and KT YAU. She has also been awarded numerously in street dance competitions and battles over the past decade.
In street dance side, she was recently awarded in "Joint University Battle Session(JBS)” Open Side 4 on 4 Champion (2017), "Endless Rolling” Female Funk Style 1 on 1 Battle Champion (2015), "Dancing King” Funk Style 2 on 2 Battle Champion (2015) and "HKBDC" Hong Kong Best Dance Crew (All Style category) (Fe-Style Ranger) Champion (2015).
She is interested in rhythm, multitudes of time, dynamics in movements, creating specific movement vocabularies, performing with unconventional spaces, and exploring the practices of creations and performances based on improvisations.
